Furtive Fort (spontaneous)



Furtively, I return to a previous time
To survey the scene; to see who remains
And view the stalwart penship regulars,
And hear the authentic voices opine:

But I already heard them; they said:

Turncoat: that hodge-podge; that hotch-potch of a man!
Demote: return the dime of kindness we gave out!
Deselect: these who quit with0ut warning...
And Vote: against those who leave with no mourning...

Such thoughts in my mind, at least.
After necessary business is now complete,

But I want to swim back into the scene,
And quietly
And imagine that there is a refusal

Even when one is self-evidently invisible..
